After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1981, Alex Bohrer moved to California to complete the Dick Grove Composition and Arranging Program (CAP).

During the early years of the CAP program, Dick Grove was known for his personal teaching approach. 

He worked closely with students to help them overcome their weaknesses and master their imagination. 

The CAP curriculum was designed to develop students' artistic skills and prepare them for free-lance orchestral and arrangement competitions. 

The school has trained hundreds of musicians and is still active today. It is also known for its unique teaching methods and includes a personal touch that no other music school provides.

After completing the Composing and Arranging Program at The Grove School in Los Angeles, he later opened The Academy Without Walls. 

At the CAP, he taught musicianship, jazz harmony, ear training, and arranging, as well as many contemporary styles. 

In addition to the CAP, he wrote many books on composing and arranging. 

While his reputation is still widespread, the CAP's educational programs will continue to provide students with an education in a variety of genres.
